About

MobileJawi was conceptualised and created by Muthu Nedumaran in 2005. It was first created as an app for featured phones as modern day smart phones were not launched during that time. In 2006, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) supported the development of MobileJawi in various mobile platforms, by awarding the NCDG development grant.

Celcom, a leading mobile network operator in Malaysia, launched the Celcom Jawi service for their subscribers using featured phones in 2007. Users were able to compose and send Jawi text messages via SMS using the MobileJawi midlet.

MobileJawi was launched as an android app in Google Play in 2013. A completely designed version was launched as MobileJawi 2.0 in Google Play and Huawei’s App Gallery in November 2020.

In December 2020, MobileJawi was launched in Apple’s AppStore for iPhones and iPads.
